This city is dominated by low-rise sprawls and downtown Nassau is the hub for all activities. The main shopping street, which runs parallel to the shore is filled with an old mix of expensive jewelry, boutiques and trashy souvenir shops. There is an interesting mix of abandoned buildings and bright Carribean structures and Bahamian art from the precolonial era to the present. There are interesting bus tours that take to to see the old forts and Paradise Island to see the famous Atlantis Hotel resort and its stunning aquarium.
