Wakkanai, Japan

Wakkanai, Japan
Population: 40,629
Language: Japanese
This city is en route to the fascinating Rishiri-Rebun-Sarobetsu National Park which is really worth travelling for. At the northern tip, a nice lighthouse and an excellent aquarium awaits you with great views of Government radar on green hills and occassionally the Russian coast is visible. The nearby Meguma Wilderness Garden, where 300 different flowers bloom in spring is a good option to help you kill time and Wakkanai Park offers some commanding views over the grassy hills, west of the town. Why not visit the northern coast and find out where the seaweed in your food comes from?
